PRICING: How much will it cost? Well, that depends on what you want.

My prices start at $50 for a simple pencil or pen drawing and can go up past $400 for multiple figure portraits in color. Pricing includes tax and shipping and depends mostly on 3 factors:

Media: Color costs more than black and white, drawings less than paintings. Available media include pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel/colored pencil, watercolor, digital media and paint. Examples of all of these types of media can be viewed on this web site. Feel free to just look around. If there's a posted work that you particularly like the style of, feel free to mention it in your request.

Size: I usually try to keep works to standard mat and framing sizes for the convenience of the customer. Obviously, an 8" X 10" will cost considerably less than a 20" X 30" poster size. But please keep in mind that excessively small works can be tricky and therefore more expensive.

Complexity: A face is less complex than an entire figure. One portrait is less complex than a family grouping. The more complex the commission, the more time it will take to complete, the more the work will cost.

DOWN PAYMENTS: I once heard a saying, "If the check clears, its art." In this case its more like, "Once the check (or money order or credit card payment) clears, the art starts."

In addition to the expense of art materials, the time of a skilled professional is worth money. To that end, I do not begin work on a commission until receipt of half of the agreed upon price. Declining or canceling a commission does NOT necessarily mean a full return of monies received. Please see the Refund section below.

YOUR WORK DONE YOUR WAY: You've just shelled out some money for a commission, how do you know if its been started? Will it end up the way you requested?

This is your art. It should be what you want. You can request periodic progress images sent on line. You can also request changes within reason. After the second or third request, I reserve the right to request additional monies for changes, additions or alterations. Again, clear communication of what you want in the beginning is important for the happiness of the customer and the sanity of the artist.

WRAPPING IT UP: Once the art is done, you will receive an image on line. This way you know that the work has been completed and is to your liking. Once the final payment has been received, the work will be shipped to you.

SUBJECT MATTER: No erotica please. I have no problem with sexy poses, scanty clothing or even tasteful nudity. If you are interested in anything explicit, sexually violent or degrading, please seek another artist.

REFUNDS: I take pride in my work and in fair business practices. I work very hard to make certain that the work you pay for is what you really like.

But commissioning an artist means entering into a business agreement. It should not be done lightly or with the assumption that you will get ALL your money back if you cancel a piece. Again, an artist, like a doctor, is a skilled, trained and educated professional whose time is worth money.

The amount of a refund depends largely upon the amount of time already put into a piece. The customer does not receive a refund AND the unfinished art work. One or the other--no exceptions. I apologize but this rule is necessary.
